Sofie Royer and The Cult Survivors (Stone’s Throw) + Areamann

Doors 20:00

Marie-Antoinette Club is proud to present Sofie Royer and the Cult Survivors with support from Areamann.
Tonight Areamann will take on the duality of also performing as the Cult Survivors, Sofie Royer’s live backing band. They’re on stage and they’re not leavin’. until the show is over.
This will be Sofie’s only show with a full band in a while, before going on tour solo supporting Toro Y Moi.
Sofie Royer —
Sofie Fatouretchi Royer is an artist and musician, born in California to Austrian and Iranian parents. Classically trained, she spent her teenage years in Vienna studying concert violin and viola at the Konservatorium; performing with the Junge Philharmonie in the Volksoper, Musikverein, Konzerthaus, and various concert halls.
Her foundations in DJing began at a Stones Throw hosted night called 56, which took place at the now defunct Mr T’s Bowl in Highland Park. There she connected with Boiler Room, when they scheduled their first West Coast broadcast, and she was booked to open for Dam-Funk, J Rocc and Peanut Butter Wolf. She quickly became responsible for the Los Angeles outpost, curating and hosting shows, later expanding to business development, merchandise and creative direction, a move that saw her moving to New York and London.
In 2020 she released her debut album Cult Survivor to many accolades. “…Cult Survivor is one of my big favourites of the 21st Century. She is a great writer and musician.” (Duglas T Stewart, BMX Bandits)
A new album will be released this year, of which 2 singles are out – Baker Miller Pink & the epic Schweden Espresso:

Areamann / (and for one night only – The Cult Survivors) —
Areamann is what local person Uri Berger thought to be a good moniker to release music under. Drawing from lo-fi bedroom pop, psychedelia and experimental electronica he recorded an actual full album (of songs!!) revolving around the themes of the challenges of social interaction, delayed gratification, the gifts that 2020 has brought us and the wonderful final years to come. At least the album will be out before their arrival. He is joined by drummer Mats Folkesson (Point No Point, Mary Ocher), Richie Murphy (Michael Knight, Oum Shatt) on keyboard and vocals and Anna Erhard on bass and vocals.
