The Berlin based duo, Crow Baby, is the love child of Cherilyn MacNeil and Jean-Louise Parker, both born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa, and each a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with her own projects. In 2020 they reunited in Berlin and started a standing Friday afternoon playdate as a respite during the Covid lock down. The result is a fearsome and wholly original Art Pop band – “with a punk spirit!” – which pairs a mischievous, upbeat sound with delightfully wry lyrics: a cheerleader with a mean, messy streak.
